I had half my thyroid removed in Nov. 2003 due to a large, growing nodule. I have been on Zoloft since Jan. 2003 when the nodule was first discovered. I had been taken Zoloft for a couple of years when my pharmacy switched me to the generic version. Within a few days I felt exhausted, cold and depressed. I called my doctor and he said the generic sometimes doesn't work so he switched it back to Zoloft. I felt better after a few days. You can tell if your dosage of Zoloft is too high quite easily: you get jittery, hot, sweaty, and can't sleep. This happened when my doc raised my dose to 150 mcg just before my surgery. Took this for post-op pain, worked well for the pain but after about 24 hours of it I developed some pretty severe flushing across cheeks, nose and some on ears. Face was on fire and my cheeks actually felt almost bruised like they'd been slapped. The pain it helped wasn't adequate to offset the pain it caused so I quit taking it. by AUBREY from Glady, WV
This medication is wonderful! I have Occipital Neuralgia which is like a migraine that goes on 24/7. The side effects are crazy, hands and feet tingle like they fell asleep, when I wake up I have hallucinations of trailing lights with anything that moves. This goes on for about a half hour. I'll take that over having the searing pain in my right eye any day. When I was pregnant and nursing I had to stop taking this med, it was HORRIBLE. I realized how bad I needed it. I take 100mg 2x daily. I have lost quite a bit of weight, I forget to eat and drink. I do have major depression so this has been worse with this drug.
