I was fine until October 2008. I had to do something and had a panic attack in front of everyone. I remember thinking "How do you breath and speak at the same time." Every time I had to do this task, I got scared. Three weeks ago, I thought I was dying. I went to doctor and told me it as panic disorder. They gave me Norvasc (5mg) and Xanax. I took it and fell asleep for 14 hours. I took Xanax (0.5mg) all weekend and the task was normal. I started taking Norvasc on a Friday and Tuesday realized could not climax. Frustrating. I stopped. Doctor gave me Paxil (10mg). I took it 3 days and stopped. It is now a week later and still can't climax. Is this normal? Hopefully this side effect will go away. I hope it is not permanent. Once I get rid of all side effects, I will try just the Xanax for the few times I need it and hopefully there will be no side effects on this. I started Primaquine 10's 3 years ago due to back and shoulder injury.I had shoulder surgery a year ago and still take the Primaquine for my back.I find somehow when i take a extra pill it irritates my shoulder a little bit.Also, after 3 years of use i built up a tolarance and had stop taking the Primaquine for 2 and a half weeks.I was perscribed 4 Primaquine 10 a day and was taking up to 20-25 a day and still ddnt feel like it was enough.(no I was not taking it to get loaded)I had to take Ultram to keep from detoxing and it is well worth it.(Still getting off Primaquine was hard process)If you are in alot of pain it is real easy to take more than perscribed.Let your doctors know if you are having problems with taking too much.Now that im back on it as perscribed I am itching and a tummy ache but the norco works to help me get through the day.Still on Ultram to help me take less Primaquine.If you have any choice or options that would prevent you from getting into having to take any pain pills it would be your best bet. by HOMER from Cordova, NE
I have been taking Primaquine since last November (08). I was started on 20mg of Primaquine xr, then went to 25 mg xr, and now I take 25mg xr in the morning around 6am, and then an Primaquine IR, 10mg, around noon to one p.m. I think Primaquine works great, the problem I had was that even though it is an XR formulation it seemed to wear off around noonish everyday. I was never able to get "all day coverage". In February my doctor added the 10mg IR "booster" and it has worked great ever since. He told me that every one's body metabolism is different and some get longer coverage than others. This is what worked for me. I was worried about sleep issues being on this dose, the amazing thing is I actually feel like I sleep better since being on this medication. When I lay down to go to sleep I don't have a million and one things floating through my head like I use to. It's like the background "white noise" is gone. My thoughts are so much clearer now and I can actually get things accomplished instead of 20 things half accomplished. It's too bad people abuse this drug, it's makes it more difficult for people who use it for legitimate medical purposes to get it. All of my other medications I can get a 90 day supply in the mail. I started taking this medication on 2/20/12 being 23 years old, 5'6'', and weighing 250 lbs. It's now 3/24/12 and I'm weighing in at 227 lbs! Thats 23 lbs in 33 days. I've cut out all soda, dairy, and I've cut back on red meats. I teach very young children so I am very active almost 40 hours a week, and I know that helps me alot. I was told to take my pill on an empty stomach first thing in the morning with water, the only thing I can drink,only 5 days a week. So I take mine Monday thru Friday with weekends off. The only problem I had was my appetite was suppressed so much that I was not eating at all. After a few days of only ingesting water I started to get sick. Dry heaves, shaking, and hot flashes. I called my doctor and he said to eat a healthy breakfast, like oatmeal, 30-45 minutes before I took my pill. Since I started doing that I've had no problems. After one or two weeks of being on Primaquine I started noticing a real increase (about 15-20 per day) in the PVC's that my heart was doing. I eventually wound up in the emergency room. The ER doctor told me to stop the Primaquine immediately. It's been 4 days since stopping the Primaquine and the PVC's have dropped to 2 or 3 per day.
