I am 21, Bipolar and have been taking Paxil for 3 weeks now. This medication is two-sided. I have control over my thoughts and impulsiveness but am constantly tired. Within 20 minutes of taking it at night I can't even speak or walk. If I don't get 10 hours of sleep I can barely function the next day. If I do get the 10 hours then I feel ok. I take it for O A and found out it does work. I was out of my Tramadol and had to wait for the drugest to get it and was out for of meds for five days ! The small boost in mood provided by this drug was not worth the multiple, disruptive side effects of the drug. Although worst for the first 8 weeks on the med, some side effects returned with vengeance at month 9. I found it best to go off the drug rather rapidly, but that is not recommended by the manufacturer. I didn't realize, until after I was clear of the drug, that during that 10 months I had significantly reduced attention span. I thought, honestly, that I was just burnt out on graduate school!
