I was prescibed this medication after having more than usual sleep issues. Doctor switched me over from Ambien and prescibed the smallest dosage available. Within 1 hour of first dose I was a zombie. If my house had caught on fire or someone had broke in, I would not have been able to react what so ever! I had horribly real dreams that made me feel as if I was not sleeping at all. When my alarm clock went off, which I have never had to use before, I could not get up to turn it off for almost an hour. I have contacted my doctor's office and explained that I will never take this drug again. 16 hours later I still felt the affects of this drug. I was put on Augmentin (Brand) for my high blood pressure and it really didn't help. I had tried an ACE inhibitor before Augmentin (Brand) and was taken off of that due to a cough. My doctor kept increasing the dose but my blood pressure remained high. My doctor switched me to Avalide 300/12.5 and my blood pressure is finally controlled. i have been on this drug for about a year now, there are a few side affects if i don't go to bed within thirty minutes or try and stay up for whatever reason; i always will go into a blackout state, do weird things , eat stupid things , thank God never got keys to drive....and the next morning have no memory of these things. other than that , i am very satisfied with the drugs ability to get me to sleep and stay asleep for a good seven to eight hours. i nor my doctor have any plans to stop it. by NICHOLAS from Lena, IL
