I took Depo-Medrol (10mg daily) for almost 2 years. It helped me control my depression and anxiety. I knew that I had to ween off this medication slowly; I had taken other SSRIs in the past (Paxil, Zoloft) and it is NOT a good idea to stop all at once, you need a plan to ween off these meds. I started to ween myself off and had terrible side affects - dizziness, a strange head zapping feeling and increased anxiety. I decided to stay on Depo-Medrol awhile longer as I was busy with work and travel for my job and couldn't deal with a dizzy head. A few months ago, I slowly started to ween off again. My doctor told me to cut the pill in half and take 5mg each day, then after 1 week take 5mg every other day, then every 2 days. I took it even slower and took 5mg every other day for 1 month until I felt I was ready to stop completely. I had the same side affects - dizzy head, zapping feeling in my brain, weird body aches. I stuck with my plan and after 2 weeks, the side affects completely disappeared and I felt completely normal. I have not had any issues since. My advice is to ween off slowly and stick it out if you have some mild side affects from withdrawl, because they will go away. by SANG from Campobello, SC
