I had been taking Anafranil off and on for 3 years. In the beginning it was very effective but I used it sporadically because I had a newborn to take care of. Since my mother's death in July 2008 and other stressors, I became a very chronic insomniac and took the medication more frequently. I fell and hit my head - ER couldn't determine if I had a brain injury or a stroke. For some reason I was given both morphine and dilaudid. My respiration was dangerously low - I felt like I had bugs crawling all over me. Luckily I could stay focused so I knew it was a reaction to something and not really happening. After three days of arguing with the doctors I was finally taken off of it and most of the symptoms being attributed to the stroke (couldn't walk or see, had trouble talking) went away.
