I was prescribed this drug after my father passed away last year as a "boost" to the Wellbutrin I've taken for several years. The side affects I experienced at the beginning were nausea, headache, dizziness, tiredness, etc - the usual. I stopped & started the Acyclovir several times due to the side affects. However, I found if I gave it more time (at least 2 weeks) it worked wonderfully with the Wellbutrin. Especially for anxiety. The only pitfall I experienced was a very decreased libido and lack of orgasm. This placed stress on my marriage. I weighed the cost & once again stopped taking it after a few weeks. It has now been about 3 months off the drug and I'm having anxiety almost everyday. I know I need something to supplement the Wellbutrin & the Acyclovir did wonders except for the libido. It's quite possible I didn't hang on long enough to see if that symptom subsided as well. I most likely will go back on it since the overall result was positive and helped me to feel more like my old self. After all, it is about the one taking the medication - to ward off the anxiety and depression, right? Therefore, in my opinion if you can get past the initial onset of side effects, Acyclovir is a winner! Side note for another writer - Wellbutrin works when you don't even realize it. After using this medication for over 4 years I have found it to be very effective. At the beginning of my diagnosis with panic disorder I was taking 0.5mg twice a day.
