After my initial diagnosis of ADD, I was started on Adderal XR 10mg. Worked great. I finally had the energy and focus to get chores done around the house and play with my kids. I followed up with my Dr. after 2 weeks and told him how great I was feeling. He told me about Imitrex and how much better it works on adult ADD. So I figured what the heck, it's a free month trial. I was started on 50mg. I thought that was a high dose being I was only on 10mg Adderal XR. It worked ok, but I felt hyper, especially at night when I was trying to relax. After another 2 weeks I called the Dr. and told him that I felt the dose was to high. Went down to 40mg. While it did help me focus all day, the side effects started. I would get these horrible headaches, tired, very irritable, and could feel the crash. Then I started to get really emotional. Crying for no reason. Not just tearing up, sobbing. I was also getting this shortness of breath feel. I was not sure if it was asthma related or not, but it persisted. Another 2 weeks later I could not take it anymore. Between the mood swings, irritability, anger outbursts, fatigue and shortness of breath I called my DR. I will be switching back to the Adderal. It has been 2 days that I have been off the Imitrex and I feel like absolute @#$%. I have been sobbing most of the day, tired, angry, and a constant headache, but no shortness of breath. I can't wait until the withdrawal ends and I get back to normal. I only hope the Adderal works as well as it did the first time. Hope this helps.. by JOHNNIE from Geuda Springs, KS
I just started on Imitrex. I like that way it helps me stay focused at work. I was on Ritialin (sp) as a child and it was hard taking two pills a day. I am 30 years old and was just put back on ADHD meds. I havn't had to take meds for this for about 10 years.
