I take Amitriptylinein conjunction with Ambien. The latter to get to sleep, the former to stay asleep. Amitriptlyne is effective at keeping me asleep but I haven't experienced waking up feeling refreshed in years. That may be due to my being BiPolar. If I take 2 50mg tabs I hallucinate and see a black lace print on all surfaces. This is very disorienting.
