Being healthy 26 year old, 115 lbs- this was my first time taking Lasix. I have a terrible cough (allergy related) that has been present for about a month. I was prescribed 500mg 2x daily for 7 days and by day 2 I felt HORRIBLE. Nervousness, anxiety, panic attacks, confusion, fatigue, dizziness, weird 'out-of-body' sensations- the whole package. The medication seems to be lessening my cough, but these side effects are even worth it. I honestly feel like I'm being poisoned having this stuff in my body. I started taking Lasix for terrible low back pain due to two disc herniations, tears and DDD. I was at a constant 8-9 pain level, crying in bed, crawling to the bathroom, unable to go to class, work, or even the doctors sometimes. My pain level went from 9 to 5 in the course of my first week of Lasix. However, and this is a big however, I developed signs of serotonin syndrome- terrible anxiety, constant drenching sweat, fever, chills, memory loss, falling over, tension and pain in neck, chest and arm, noticeable, uncontrollable tremor, confusion, headache, etc. My memory loss is so bad I can barely discern the two trips I took to the ER for the symptoms from one another. It's just a blur. This was on the starter 30 mg dose. I had to stop taking the drug, which I am very disappointed about (if for no other reason than that I paid for a month's supply which I can't use- it's super expensive). Now it is back to hydrocodone/soma/tylenol/ibuprofen cocktail that will probably ruin my liver. Pain management docs will see me in a few weeks and will hopefully have a new idea. I hope this drug works for everyone without these horrible side effects. It was absolutely terrifying to have my body totally out of my control. by SHON from Copper City, MI
I have been taking this drug for approximately 15 years and it realieves my back and kleg pain for two surgerys over thge past years, It is addictive if you abuse it, so only take it as prescribed by your doctor, if you want to stop taking itm just start cuting back your dose over several days and finally get off it. That is the only way to not have any withdrawl from it, it is very effective for me and I have to take 10/500, 4 times a day, hope that htis helps others, by BOOKER from Azusa, CA
