Made a post reguarding this drug back in Dec07. Was taking it for severe SCIATICA from disk damage.While it worked really great for the pain,I just could not seem to get rid of the side effects after 2 months. I submitted a post in February. Shortly after that, within a 2 week period, my son had 3 seizure like "episodes" where something very small would set him off into a rage. He would find anything hard to hit himself, a chair - anything. One happened at home; the other two at school. His eyes would roll all around; they would be glazed; he wouldn't speak to me. Afterwards, he would get up as if nothing happened. I almost called the squad it got so bad. His teachers and students at school were terrified both times it happened there. I tried calling our family doctor after it happened the first time. His nurse blew me off and told me he was booked for 6 weeks. I gave it time but after it happened 2 more times within a couple of days, I tried calling his office again. Again, the nurse gave me the same song and dance. I tried paging him later that evening. No return call. The very next morning I called a pediatrician my brother uses. They got my son right in. This doctor does not support the use of this medication for children - period. This medication caused my son's temper to be 1,000 times worse. His ears would also get hot and red; that has also stopped. The problem is; these doctors don't know what the side effects are. Our children are way too precious to put them through this. We only had him on 25 mg per day. I feel horrible for having him on it all. We know our children better than anyone. I urge anyone who is considering this medication NOT to use it. I understand that there are children that really do need help out there. But, for the kids that just won't sit still - come on. The teachers need to do their jobs, too. They need to realize all kids aren't cookie cutter kids. They need to be challenged so they will pay attention and stay focused and on task. My father of 84yrs. was put on Methocarbamol starter card of 5 mg. twice a day. Then moved to 10 mg.twice a day. He was remembering so much from the past that it seemed like a his memory was so clear! Then in his fourth week the Doctor add another drug to go with Methocarbamol....? Aricept ? That is when his world turned inside out! He became ZOMBIE like, the hospital couldn't find that he had a stroke or any other problems.
