My doctor prescribed coumadin after my operation, then he switched me to warfarin. I took the pill as prescribed and it did not work the way it suppose to. He then put me back on coumadin , i have been on the drug for 22 years and have no problems. 2011 i had another valve put in my heart it is a mitral valve my cardiac surgeon went with another mechanical valve. He felt that i was on coumadin already and that's why he used the mechanical valve. I am on coumadin and have no complaints about the drug. The only thing is that it cost so much,I have 2 mechanical valves, the aortic & mitral valve and the coumadin does the job. by ORLANDO from Stewart, OH
Started this med to take the "edge off" of my temper, not depression. Worked well for that and social anxiety. This drug is a definite killer of one's sex life. After 12 years or so of taking, I decided to try and get off this drug. My 1st attempt was a disaster thanks to my doctor at the time telling me "just quit taking", not gradually decrease. Never, ever try it this way. I have since then been fired him. My main advice for those attempting withdrawal is to do so in a gradual, well-managed way. Keep a record as to when you start, how you feel day by day, any unusual occurrences. I started with a 1/2 tab decrease for a week, then 1/4 for another week, and finally 1/4 every other day for the final week. I was prescribed Paxil for pre-menopausal symptoms, 75mg. Initially, the drug seemed to work well for improving mood, only side effects were weird vivid dreams, loss of sex drive, and more episodes of restless leg syndrome. After taking the Paxil for about 2 mos, noticed it was not helping as much with the moodiness, and restless leg syndrome was so bad I couldn't sleep at night. I decided to "wean" myself off the drug..taking 37 mg for about two weeks, as SOON as I stopped, dizziness and nausea.
