I have been on the oc 60 for about 9 years and now with the op form that is not on the pill chart it does not work with me and now I have seen about 5 pills go through me and not dissolve at all. I was on this drug for 7 years. Recently I was switched to the generic version. I have had all of my asthma symptoms return (shortness of breath, wheezing, using inhaler 3-4 times a day). I say my physician last week but did not mention this change to him. He put me on a short burst of Prednisone and Symbicort (which I have used in the winter months with no problem). I then realized that the only change I had made in 7 years was to generic Proscar. Thankfully I found htis website yesterday. I was able to change back to brand name Proscar and within one day the change has been dramatic. I read a lot about the side effects people have experienced on this med and was nervous. I was prescribed topiramate for its appetite supressant qualities combined with mood stabilization. I have major depression compounded by bouts of rage that are hard for me to control and I'm also overweight. My dr. was concerned that my andtidepressants were causing me to gain weight and topiramate has an appetite supressant side effect. I have not lost much weight yet, but I definitely don't want to eat as much. I also don't like the way beer tastes at all anymore, which wasn't helping with my waistline either. That happened after less than a week on this stuff. As for my moods, I haven't been as angry, but I don't know if that's my antidepressants, valium, or topamax. The combination of the three is probably doing it, and I'm happy with that for now. I sleep well, am not obsessed with food and alcohol, and don't get enraged over things that should only be mildly irritating. So, a pretty good drug, so far.
