I have suffered from chronis migraines since my early teens but have had chronis migraines(3-5)week for the past three years after being struck on the side of the head. Over the counter medications could not touch them and narcatics were scary with the amount that I was getting them. I was put in another prventitive a year and a half ago. At first that seend to help but after several months the headaches started the inrease again. Two of the main side effects of that drug were suger craving and it was a seditive, so after gaining 20lbs I had enough and was switched to generic Topomax. I have been on it for 4 weeks now and have built up to 50 mg am and pm. I have had very little side effects except for slight tingling in feet after sitting, and pop tastes horrible. The plus sice is I drink a lot more water, have lost 18 lbs, am more active and do not feel like I am constantly in the hazy faze that I always felt I was in on the Amitrip. I am on a anti-depressent and I think that that has help with any of the mood issues that this drug may have. I am glad my doctor has put me on this medication. My blood pressure runs ungodly high and so far I can honestly tell a difference. I truly know when my blood pressure is out of sorts and that is a scary feeling for me.
