My doctor puprescibed Nexium for my a couple of years ago, great, no side effects. This year my insurance company decided I needed to change to dexilant to be less expensive. After 4 months, I developed chronic diarrhea...daily since May 30! Six weeks, five doctors, weight loss to 98 pounds, trip to the hospital, and a doctor finally told me to stop the dexilant! Day 6 being off this horrid drug and my digestion is finally getting back to normal. I was prescribed this for depression yesterday. I should take my 1st 15 mg dose at bedtime today. Now, I'm hesitant as I'm on Ativan for anxiety as well. Thanks all for your comments. I have had severe Fibromyalgia for about 15 years but not diagnosed until 6 years ago. Since then I have been taking Gabapentin 600mg 3 x a day, Skelaxin 800mg 3 x a day as well as Dermerol 50mg at least 3 x a day, but usually 5 to 6 times a day There was some relief but not much and was unable to sleep on my left side at all due to the severe pain in my hip and leg. Added Elavil 75mg to help with sleeping which did help however the side effect of an increased desire for sweets eventually became too much to deal with. As I was eating one thing, I was thinking about what to have next. With my height at 4' 10'' my weight ballooned up to 140 lbs I was very uncomfortable, so I stopped taking it. My pain was to the point I could barely function and I became severely depressed, fatigued and my pain was off the charts, at least as far as I was concerned. After researching Cymbalta and Levitra (Brand) I talked with my doctor and decided to give the Levitra (Brand) xr 75mg a try. I have been on it for 3 months now and I am very pleased with the results. My depression has all but abated, I have my "bad" days one or two days a week mainly fatigue but not as bad as it was. But more importantly is my PAIN IS SO MUCH BETTER! I am hoping to get off of the Gabapentin and Skelaxin as well as weaning off of the Demerol. I'm finding that I don't need it as much as before. As long as it continues to work for me I have no issue with staying on it. I do have some side effects, I always have a slight headache but I can deal with it, if it gets too bad then I take some Ibuprofen. The most annoying side effect is the sweating, I live in the Desert Southwest where the temps often run 110 degrees in the summer months. I'd rather sweat than be in pain.
