I currently take the 54mg of concerta along with 300mg of wellbutrin xl. My doctor started me on this dosage but i thought it was to strong for me so he lowered my dosage to 36mg, and I noticed it was helping me some but not fully. I just had realized i was taking to much water with it at 54mg. I have been taking both medicines for about 3 years now. I take the other to help with my chemical imbalance of depression. I take both of them 5 mins apart from each other with exactly 1 glass of water for each. I take my wellbutrin first then my concerta 5 mins later. So far for me I have noticed good results in effectiveness for my adhd. I have been able to really focus and concrete on things without getting easily distracted on something. Its slows me down alot to help with my impulsive reactions on either speaking or doing something. The medicine does what its suppose to do as long you stick to a strict schedule on taking your dosage at the same time every day and get a full 8 hours of sleep every night. If not doing so it will not be effective for you. This is coming from first hand experience. Because pretty much it will act as a strong caffeine pill for like 20 hours, plus make you depressed and irritable after 4 hours from taking it. Some of the side effects, other then the daily or weekly loss of appetite or feeling nauseating while eating, that i have encountered thru my time of taking it is from time to time i will have mild fever that last for a few hours and feel a little down. The only thing i really dont like about taking these meds together is that it makes me a very serious person when I am on them or when i am socializing it makes me be boring and not very fun or outgoing. One thing that i have noticed about taking the medicine for my personal benefit, is if I don't get started on my day shortly after i take my meds. I had a horrible time beginning this drug but my psych insisted that I stick with it and gave me some things to help with the side effects. Going above 20 mgs was really tough side effects wise but after being on the 40 mg for a couple of weeks the side effects subsided and I have never been on a drug that helped my depression like this. I have energy, focus, no sexual side effects. I will say that the gastric side effects and the dreams were the worse for me. Still, I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. My hope is that it will continue to work. I've been on it for 6 mths now. 40 mgs for three months. Also I did have to go much slower with the increases.
