I have been on effexor xr for a year and a half. I wanted to get off of it about eight months ago but my doctor increased it from 150mg to 300mg per day. I now have a new doctor and he is helping me to decrease and get off of it. I also take ativan and restroil . I'm in my first wk of taping off. Primaquine was prescribed for my Trigeminal Neuralgia. I recently read that it has shown good results for "50%" of TG sufferers, but no medical citation(s) were given. There is concern that it's effectiveness "wears off." The first week was a miracle--no pain at all. The second week, there is considerable breakthrough pain. My RN/P.A. is currently re-assessing my dose, researching whether a heavier dose of Primaquine may be indicated. So far though, I have to reiterate, Primaquine has been a miracle for me, I am more functional and certainly, even with breakthrough pain, 70% to 90% to the good in terms of quality of life.
