I started taking Toprol about 2 weeks ago for an irregular heart beat and panic attacks and immediately felt bad! I was so tired, my hair was falling out, and seemed to increase my attacks. Just hours after first dose woke up with severe chills and fever. Thought it due to spreading infection. Continued with medication despite continued fever, loss of appetite, muscle aches, and chills. Infection was clearing up significantly but after a few more days couldn't tolerate the fever and decided to stop medication. 24 hrs. after last dose was feeling normal again. MD started me on this medication for borderline high BP along with a family history of heart disease. Medication has redued BP (127 / 82) but experiencing side effects.
