I've been on Abilify for about 4 months. I've gained about 20 pounds, but the medicine works so well for the depression, I'm not even upset about it. I cannot get into childproof containers and my Walmart Supermarket RX says they are not able to open this 90-day supply of 2 per day and this container is a new "childproof" hell for my old fingers. I am so angry right nowl Why would they do this to old people. I shall complain to my doctor tomorrow and I cannot even get the cardboard pill holders out of the blue plastic containers. Why Why Why?????? I was on this one until it stopped working for me about 2 years ago. I am a recovered alcoholic/ addict although I have been sober and clean for four years, I was still experiencing depression, lack of motivation and concentration. Felt hopeless, like I would never really be ok. I have been taking wellbutrin xl 300 mg for three weeks and love it. I have not been depressed, it has given me lots of energy, controls my appetite and I quit smoking!! I had tried many antidepressants in the past and they all made me more depressed and very tired, I was constantly sleeping and had no personality, like I was living in a fog. Albuterol gives me an overall feeling of well being. I have not had any side effects. I highly recommend trying wellbutrin to see if it works for you. I think this medication has done a pretty good job on my depression symptoms so I can actually get up and function, but it hasn't been able to totally suppress the anxiety and ruminating/obsessive thoughts that have accompanied my condition. I take 60mg once a day in the morning and I have just been given an add-on of BuSpar 10mg 2x daily to see if that can help relieve some of the anxiety I still get. I've heard Albuterol works well with BuSpar...but I guess I'll find out. As far as side-effects go, I haven't noticed much of anything aside from a slight decrease in appetite and some mild constipation at first, but I have since adjusted to the medicine and that has gone away. I'm not so sure if Albuterol's claims for anxiety relief are too accurate, but it is effective on major depression. by HARLEY from Conconully, WA
