I have been treated for panic ddisorder, depression, OCD, since I was 28. Now 53. Same Dr. for all this time. He tried everything. The ones that worked really well had side effects such aas too agressive, (Iwas very sensitive before), weight gain on another, prozac did not do much. Dr. put me on Lexepro and it has worked much faster and worked great. I only have problems when I go off of it due to thinking I am o.k. now, sometimes can't afford it, no insurance,ect. This drug has worked better than any without side effects. If I stop taking it I get weepy and anger easily. I would reccomend this to anyone who see's that it is helping them. It worked pretty much right away for me. I also have been on xanax for 25 years for panic disorder. If it works, don't try going off of it unless Dr. tells you to. I maake that mistake a lot, and it has caused problems. Cheemical imbalance runs in my family, and I will always be on meds. Works very quickly to treat anxiety and panic attacks. Be very cautious, it is extremely addictive. Meaning, if you take high doages (3-6 mg daily) over several weeks then suddenly stop, you may get seizures from withdrawals,exremely dangerous to stop abruptly. The secret is to cut down very gradually by .25 or .5 mg daily until you get to 1mg daily dose. Then you can reduce by .25 mg after 1 week at 1 mg until you get off it. I actually cut the tablets down to 1/8 mg pieces and reduced that way very effectively. Best not ever to go above 1mg daily. It is a very deceptive drug, stores up in your inetrnal organs.
