Hi I have been taking gabapentin for the last thrr years. I am currently taking {4800;yes, this is a high amount}but for me I take 1200mg 4 times a day.I have nerve damage from my calf to my feet. My feet burns like hell at times but the gabapentin has cool some of the flames. It's not 100% but it helps. Anything to help with this kind of pain. I just read rusonii's comment and must say I agree with what he said about the rats. Had heart attack in 2001 and put on Suhagra. took it for 9 yrs and then insurance Co. wouldn't pay for it. I never had any real side affects, except some fatique and heaviness in legs once in awhile. I had no choice but to try the generic for Suhagra and the generic made me very sick. Terrible stomach pains, to the point that I couldn;t leave the house for 4 days. Tried Crestor and it did a fantastic job of lowering cholesterol (down to 84), but after 5 months on it started experincing horrible pains in legs, hips, ankles, thighs. So much didn't want it to be the Crestor as it was working so well. Went to Dr. and of course he didn't believe it was the Crestor, so I stopped taking it on my own and within 3 wks. all adverse symptoms had disappeared. Also tried the Zetia and Vytorin, but they too made me sick within a couple of days. Suhagra is the only cholesterol med that has worked for me without all the terrible side effects and my insurance will no longer pay for it. I've been on a strict diet for years, but not long after stopping medication my numbers go way back up. That tells me that my situation is mainly hereditary. I have been given neurontin because the bottom of my feet started feeling like they were on fire!! My MD said it was neuropothy even tho' I am not diabetic, nor have I had any herpes zoster. The medication has subsided the pain to definitely tolerable, but I still know it's there. The only thing I have noticed since starting this medication,which I have not noted as a side effect, is that I now have severe cramping in my feet and toes. They have started to contract overlapping each other and muscle pain very bad. I do not know if this is caused by the neurontin of if this is just something very new that has started happening to me.
