I was taking this medicine for sleep and it works very well I was on 25mg but splitting it in half at night. I noticed a high pitch buzzing in my ear and decided to look it up on the internet and looked at the side effects and it was one of the severe side effects. Female 27 start weight 236. Started 37.5 mg in October. Now in December at 218 lbs. Side effects I have experienced: irritability, bad breath and taste, jittery feeling at times, mild to moderate nausea. The plan is to stay on for 3 more months and a goal weight of 180. i workout 4-5 times weekly (3 aerobic, 1-2 strength training) but have been doing that for a couple years with little or no weight loss. This has improved the numbers but sometimes the side effects can be a little overwhelming. My appetite has been almost completely wiped out at times and i have to force myself to sit down and eat some vegetables or a bowl of cereal to keep from getting nauseated. by LONNY from Colome, SD
Had back pain for the second time within a year. The first time around I was prescribed a heavy dose of naproxen (Aleve), and I found that it only worked for six hours per dose. Now I am on lithium and an antidepressant, so NSAID's and tramadol are out. My only experiences with opiates were limited to Stadol in labor and some codeine-guafenisen cough syrup awhile back, and I don't remember much about it. I politely nagged at two different doctors (and made it very clear I was in pain and yes, I had no problem admitting to seeing a different doctor - within the same practice!) for something for this back pain. I was reluctantly given hydrocodone/apap 5/325. First dose made me alert, and pain was still noticeable. Did not sleep at all that night. General sense of well-being, but nothing to write home about. Second dose I didn't feel anything - pain was still there, no sense of contentment, no alertness. I tried to take it one more time a few days later to see if it would do anything. No effect. Saw psychiatrist - he told me women and tigers (yes, tigers) tend to get a more activating effect with hydrocodone compared to human men. I've also talked with other folks diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder something or another, and some have experienced the awakening effect from hydrocodone.
