I was treated at the ER for a suspected Kidney infection when the pain in my back hurt so bad I couldn't walk. Told to take 500mg of Cipro 2x a day for 7 days. I am on day 4 now and I'm 50/50 on this med. It got me free of the kidney pain and feeling better in 3 days, but the side effects are awful on their own! No bowel movement since I've taken this, nausea, dizzy, confused and disconnected... feel like my brain is floating in fog. All symptoms besides my lack of bowels subside w/i 2 hrs of each dose though. So really, this med for me at least was a give and take. It is great for pain relief, but unpleasant side effects including constipation, effects appetite and causes disruption of sleep even after you stop using it. Drug is very effective, but the side effects,sudden diarrhea, and kidney damage occurred after using for 12 years.
