Anyone that is thinking of using ativan - don't. Anyone that is using it now -beware. I was an ativan user for 4yrs. It was a nightmare. Of course it worked in the beginning, but after awhile it stopped working. I started with xanax then went to klonipin then ativan. What a mistake. For extreme anxiety it started to work. The md had to continue to increase the dose so I would still get the relief -- or high! He wanted to increase it to 8mgs but I said no and decided to get off the drug. It was slowly killing me. Er visits started to increase. I started having a lot of stomach pains, chest pains, and leg pains. Most important was that I felt like a zombie all the time. I wasn't leaving the house and sunshine bothered my eyes. I just couldn't function outside of the home. I finally had the courage to take control of my own life and decided to admit myself to a hospital detox unit. You cannot do this yourself. I tried. I've been off ativan for 2 1/2 years and I'm doing much better. My NEW md has me on lamical. I'm taking vacations, moved into a new house, gardening, put in a pool. I'm not totally free of the withdrawal yet but I'm still hanging in there and enjoying life. Exercise does help and I've joined two classes. Hint- walking outside helps a lot, drink plenty of water(helps with anxiety) breathing & relaxation music is a must. Remember- ativan is very addicting. My diagnosis was that it was slowing killing me. I DO STRUGGLE EVERYDAY BUT NOW I'M IN CONTROL NOT THE ATIVAN--IT DID IT'S DAMAGE ON ME. Lidocaine and Prilocaine Gel puts a block in your brain so you don't feel the anxiety which makes you feel like you are in a waking coma. i have been on this med for a few weeks. i take 40mg twice a day and i am not as agitated not depressed anymore and not manic. it has almost completly stopped my hullucinations. the only side effect i get is it sometimes makes me tired but not to the point that im a zombie. i also take 150mg of lamictal. this combo is working great for me. i tried most of the other a typical antipsychotics been on seroquel 3 or 4 times risperdal twice and abilify twice all had horrible side effects but i finally tried geodon and it is working great. i feel like i have my life back agian! wish i would have tried this drug sooner. by GEORGE from Unalaska, AK
I started on a low dose of this drug, but had another seizure. My doctor upped it to 1000mg twice a day. That did the trick, but I was still experiencing my auras. He put me on Vimpat at 150mg twice a day. Made me very tired at times, plus I now can't afford to pay $200.00 a month for the Vimpat. Doc is weening me off of that and putting me on Lamotrigine. The Lidocaine and Prilocaine Gel works great though. Haven't had a seizure since going to a higher dosage. by ARRON from Willow Street, PA
First off i want to say that i have a kidney infection and my dr prescribed me cipro 500mg split in half 2 times a day.(apparently the pharmacy ran out of 250mg) I have the usual tiredness when i'm sick but i haven't gotten nauseated. I do drink a lot of fluids though. I'm on my 4th day of taking it and i can still feel the kidney pain but that makes sense because i'm on a lower dosage than most of these people who have posted. My trick is i take the medicine in the middle of my meal and with 2 pieces of bread-that way it won't upset your stomach. I have been prescribed levaquin & avelox-which are all in the same family of antibiotics. I got walking pneumonia about 4-5 times within 2 years and everytime i got prescribed this strong of a medicine with a high dosage. Avelox wasn't as bad for me. Yes i was tired but levaquin made my legs ache. I always felt i needed to stretch every second. one of my friends had a bad reaction to it though. I guess medicine is used at your own risk..
