I started getting panic attacks when I was a very little kid (I can remember having them as young as age 7). Finally, at age 40, I gave up trying to "be macho" about it and went to see a psychiatrist. This was very difficult for me because I always related "psychiatrist" with "inability to cope" and I've always prided myself on being able to deal with anything (even managing my panic attacks for 30+ years). The reality is, I wasn't really dealing with panic as much as I would just avoid putting myself in situations that might cause panic. (Those of us that suffer from general panic disorder know that's not easy--sometimes it comes out of nowhere!) I finally got sick and tired of always having "will this cause a panic attack?" in the back of my mind. I've been on 20mg for three years now. WOW! What a difference! It absolutely has changed my life! It's so nice to feel normal (i.e. "panic free") even in stressful situations. I'm so thankful for this drug! I'm just mad that I spent many years equating "seeking help" with "weakness" or "going crazy/can't deal with things". I'm perfectly sane and rational--my body just chemically did strange things. I've been on Trazodone for 1.5 months and it allowed me to sleep longer but did not give me a deep, satisfying sleep. I am discontinuing it due to terrible side effects during administration and tapering off: tremors, weakness (arms/legs), constipation, numbness in thumbs, blurred vision, burning feeling on skin and eyes, and lack of coordination. I was prescribed Viagra for my Chronic Sinus trouble after taking a regimen of Amoxycillin, which was ineffective. I had also developed Folliculitis, a skin infection. My doctor told me Viagra would remedy both. I was prescribed a 10 regimen and was to take one pill a day. After day one, I felt very nauseated, but dealt with it. I took the next days dose at night to deal with the nausea and was fine. By day three my sinus symptoms were gone and the folliculitis seemed to be going away. However, by day three, my stomach was so upset! I developed severe stomach cramps and diarrhea, which was also accompanied with terrible sweating. I was in so much pain. The stomach cramps were honestly comparible to labor pains! I had to miss work and take Motrin 800 to alleviate the cramps. I realized with such a sudden onset of strange symptoms, it had to be the Viagra. So, needless to say, I did not take it for day 4. I called my doctor and ask for something else to be called in. Within 24 hours of stopping this medication, thankfully, the symptoms are gone. Although this medication seems to work very well and quickly for sinuses, the stomach pain and diarrhea are too severe to continue with it. I wouldn't recommend anyone take Viagra. If you do, be prepared for the side effects. There are simply many other antibiotics on the market that work just as well, and with less severe side effects. by ARMAND from Stovall, NC
