I started this medication about two weeks ago. I havent weighed myself again...but the first week I lost 7 lbs. ONly the first day I got real figgety and my heart was raising. I do have dry mouth. I've been on Norvasc on and off for 5+ years, starting it again when I was in the first trimester of pregnancy d/t major depression and paralyzing anxiety. No birth defects in my daughter! She is almost 2yrs old now and very happy nad healthy! I am as well! Taking this medication in conjuction with Lamictal has helped immensely to curb my drastic changes in mood. I can effectively communicate my feelings and do so without becoming overwhelmed or hostile. I have noticed that taking a dosage as high as I do has serious side effects when combined with copius amounts of alcohol! It recently caused me to have a psychotic episode, landing me in a psychiatric hospital after a suicide attempt. I have since been sober and am letting the medication work to it's full potential. I was also diagnosed with ADHD and severe anxiety disorder which is managed with adderal and alprazolam. This mixture of medication is ideal for my conditions, only thing I've noticed is the decrease in sex drive, which I don't consider a bad thing, as I believe it was one of my addictions in the past. I'd much rather be healthy and happy than fall back into my old self-destructive ways! I do contribute my wellness to the medication and supportive people in my life. Why do they prescribe this for pain? This did NOTHING for pain. I get severe migraines which now I use Lorcet or Fiorcet. I went to urgent care with this unreal pain in my jaw (brought on by anxiety) and I couldn't open my jaw more than to drink from a straw. They gave me this crap and it did no more than a placebo.
